Jaime's Review of Destiny's Fire by Trisha Wolfe

From Goodreads.
It’s the year 2040, and sixteen-year-old Dez Harkly is one of the last of her kind—part of a nearly extinct race of shape-shifters descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs. Her home and her secret are threatened when the Council lowers the barrier, allowing the enemy race to enter the Shythe haven.

As the Narcolym airships approach, Dez and her friends rebel against their Council and secretly train for battle. Not only is Dez wary of war and her growing affection for her best friend Jace, but she fears the change her birthday will bring. When Dez’s newfound power rockets out of control, it’s a Narcolym who could change her fate… if she can trust him.

Dez’s guarded world crumbles when she discovers why the Narcos have really come to Haven Falls, and she's forced to choose between the race who raised her and the enemy she's feared her whole life.

Jaime’s review….

What a fun book! Debut Trisha Wolfe has given us a world full of the paranormal with a good amount of steampunk thrown in!

This world of Haven Falls she created was so lifelike. I could see the steamships hovering in the bay emanating danger. I could imagine myself dancing in Cog’s seeing the steam and charge coming off of the stage. Also after reading Trisha’s playlist which she did for us on the blog tour you can find that post HERE. I could hear Devon’s band playing a Nine Inch Nails-ish type of set. I absolutely love a book where music plays an important part.

The main character Dez was instantly likable she wasn’t one of those needy, always needing saving type of girls that annoy me. She was strong and could kick some major butt including the bigger guys around her. There were two love interests in this story Jace and Reese. I found myself completely drawn to Reese from the moment I met him I mean c’mon he has violet eyes how cool is that? I did like Jace but more in a best friend kind of way. I also really loved Jace’s brother Nick and his sister Lana they were a major part of the story and it definitely wouldn’t have been the same without them.

The story itself was very original I have never read one about shifters like this they were descendants of the shifter that protected the Pharaoh’s from Egypt; which was awesome because I love Egyptian history and myth. That being said I would have loved a little bit more of an explanation about that I’m hoping it’ll come in book 2. Back to the story though I loved all the twists and turns Trisha threw at us and she kept me up late reading I had to find out what was going to happen!

So if you want a book that’s different from the same stuff you’ve been reading I suggest checking out Destiny’s Fire you will love it and you will be dying to get your hands on book 2 like I am!

You can get Destiny’s Fire at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or at Omnific Publishing’s website!
