Sweet Evil Read Along Mini Review, Road Trip Post and a Giveaway!

Hey y’all! Welcome to week one of the Sweet Evil Read Along hosted by Mindy at Magical Urban Fantasy Reads and co-hosted by me here at Two Chicks on Books as well as Rachel from Fiktshun, Tara from Tater’s Tall Tales and Nancy from The Ravenous Reader!

This week we’ll be reading chapters 1-9 and our topic this week is Road Trips. So I got to thinking have I taken any cool road trips? At first I though no, not in a long while but then Mindy reminded me of my Spring Break trip last year to San Diego; which was actually pretty awesome because I had just finished reading Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris and the book was set there. So I went to most of the locations in the book and took pictures which I ended up using for the Unraveling Blog Tour click here if you want to see the post it’s really cool! Oh and I also went to see the Titanic Exhibit which was really awesome I got to touch a part on an iceberg! So that’s it that is my cool road trip stuff and now on to my mini review of chapters one through nine!

Ok so lol this is totes not going to be a review btw it’s going to be a tribute to one single page from all of these chapters. Why you ask? Because without this one single page none of us would be here. I read Sweet Evil before Mindy or Rachel and when I got to page 11 (yes you heard that right page11!) I got on twitter with a photo of a passage from that very page and told them they must drop everything and read this book! And they did and the rest is history! Here is the photo of that page I showed them.

This one page was the beginning of my downward spiral, of my undying love for Kaidan Rowe and my undying love for this series! If you want to see my complete review check here! And come back next Sunday for Chapters ten-sixteen! Oh and if you haven’t signed up for the read along yet it’s not too late just go the Sweet Evil Read Along Page and sign up! And fill out the Rafflecopter form below! Good luck!

  2. What an awesome road trip!!! :D I haven't read the first chapters yet, but I might start before going to sleep tonight. ;)

It's so neat though that you got to see the actual places where Unraveling was set. I always wanted to go to New Zealand, so I could see The Shire - the movie version of it anyway. *lol*

Thanks so much for this awesome giveaway!!! I can't wait to get started with Sweet Evil!!! :D

  4. Great post. I loved Unraveling and all the images were perfect. Road trips are always a blast and when you can follow along with a favorite read it is always a great kick. The only thing that would have made it perfect was to have a certain drummer tag-a-long with you. *hint-hint*

  8. I so want to read this book. I wish I had it so I could do the read along with y'all. Since I don't have the book though, I will just have to read all your chapter by chapter reviews. From what I could see of page ll, I really think I'm swooning.

As for a recent road trip, my last trip I made was to Decatur, GA for a book festival. I was stoked all the way down so I didn't need caffeine...but on the way back I was worn out and never thought I would be able to walk again...we walked soooo much. I love road trips when I can take them...and I'm looking forward to my next road trip to Charleston, SC for the Y'allFest!

  9. I love reading about the connection that you made in taking a road trip to San Diego and visiting all of the places in Unraveling. My father's side of the family all live in San Diego, so I'm pretty familiar with the city! I need to check out Unraveling!

  10. I haven't taken many road trips. I drove to Mexico for Spring Break when I was 20 and then I went to Santa Barbara once. But I did see a Titanic exhibit at Great America a long time ago and I loved it. I was really really obsessed with that movie. So cool that that one page made many fans of the series!

  11. I haven't read Sweet Evil yet but I have added it on my wish-list months ago. I hope that this semester break I may find time to read it. I was so busy in school (now that its barely two weeks away from Finals) that I can't read any books... :) Looking forward to this book! :) Road trips? .....I would love that

  12. Ha, yeah, I started this book yesterday, and I was pretty much in love from the get-go, too. :) I love your road trip post! I know it sounds weird, but I'm kinda jealous you got to touch an iceberg...that's something I'll probably never get around to doing. Probably not all that exciting, but something to add to the bucket list, for sure. :)

  16. I don't take many road trips, but I do take a lot of plane trips because my grandparents live overseas. Love your thoughts on Sweet Evil.
I also noticed that you've read Unraveling on a road trip and loved it! I did, too! (Well not the road trip thingy.) *virtual hi-five* BTW, I love your review and how you incorporated the actual scenes into it!

  18. Titanic Exhibit? wow! I wish there's something I like that in our country too. I haven't been in San Diego or any part of the US but based on your photos San Diego looks like a place to visit during summer only :)
