Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.

OMG, OMG I freaking loved this book! I loved everything about it! Victoria’s writing style just sucks you in; she’s such a beautiful writer!

This isn’t your typical romance although there are definitely good kissing scenes. I loved the idea of the Archive where people’s Histories were saved on shelves like books in a library and I loved reading about the keepers and how they kept these Histories from escaping the Archive and the Narrows. I loved the mysteries that Victoria gave us to unlock just like a key in the doors of the Narrows. And I love three boys in this book! Each for very different reasons. I loved Wesley the most tough (name always reminds me of the Princess Bride lol) with his black spiky hair and guyliner. He was let’s just say… smoking hawt! And I loved Roland one of the librarians with his red Chuck Taylors and his love for rule breaking. I also loved Owen. Just going to leave that one as is you all will have to figure Owen out on your own.

I think one of the things I loved the most about this story was Mac’s flashbacks. The scenes with her Da (grandpa) he totally reminded me of my own grandfather even the smoking part. J

So I chose one of the scenes between Mac and Wesley because I just loved the two of them together.

Wesley’s face is utterly unreadable as my hands loosen and slide away from his throat. He brings up his fingers to his neck but never takes his eyes from mine. We are, both of us, coiled.

And then he smiles.

“I thought you hated touching.”

I groan and shove him, slumping back into my corner of the bench.

“I’m sorry,” I say. The words seem to echo through the garden.

“One things for certain,” he says. “You keep me on my toes.”

“I shouldn't have---“

“It wasn't my place to judge,” he says. “Your grandfather obviously did something right.”

Go get this book when it comes out!!!!!!!
