Thirty-Five Days After Metias’s Death
June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.
It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.
But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?
Let me start by saying that I loved Legend! I read it all in one sitting and I was really pissed that I did because, I then had to wait a really long time for Prodigy! So when I got my hands on a copy at ALA I squeed like a little girl and then tried to be good and wait until closer to release day so I wouldn't have the same problem I did with Legend. Peeps! I. Failed. Big. Time! Prodigy just kept staring at me from my book shelves saying “Read Me” and I finally caved. I had to know what happened to Day and June, had to see what was going on with Day’s leg and how they were faring in Las Vegas. And Holy Crap did shit hit the fan! Pretty much from page one! And yep peeps it’s still in two POV’s and it’s in two different colors again which is awesomesauce!!!!!
And Marie is just evil may I add! I was already completely in
love with Day and then she threw a hot (I mean smoking hot) Greek boy into the
mix. We had met him before but only briefly in Legend; his name is Anden and he is, sighs, dreamy, older by a bit
and so unlike Day that I fell for him too. HARD! I am now team Anden and when
you read Prodigy you’ll see why. Oh
and remember me saying shit it’s the fan? Well let’s just say there are so many
twists in this book that I almost threw it a few times. The last two are the
worst IMO I mean I was bawling by the end of this book. Ugly, snotty, crying.
Not very attractive, thank goodness it was late and no one was awake when I
finished it lol.
I chose a scene to share with you from early in the book when
Day still was my one and only. Enjoy!
“We’re in this together
right?” he whispers. “You and me? You want to be here, yeah?”
There’s guilt in his
questions. “Yes,” I reply. “I chose this.”
Day pulls me close enough
for our noses to touch. “I love you.”
My heart flips in
excitement at the desire in his voice--- but at the same time, the technical
part of my brain instantly flares up. Highly improbable, it scoffs. A month
ago, he didn’t even know you existed. So I blurt out, “No, you don’t. Not yet.”
Day furrows his eyebrows,
as if I’d hurt him. “I mean it,” he says against my lips
I’m helpless against the
ache in his voice. But still. They’re just the words of a boy in the heat of
the moment. I try to force myself to say the same back to him, but the words
freeze on my tongue. How can he be sure of this? I certainly don’t understand all
these strange feelings inside me—am I here because I love him, or because I owe
him?
Darn you June *shakes fist* lol but that’s just June. So yeah in January go
get this book!!!!!
Make sure you pre-order it and add it to your goodreads
lists!
Aargh! Now you make me want to pick this one up instead of the rest of my December books. I can't wait to get to it (and see Anden too) :)
