Once again I was lucky enough to get passes to a premiere screening
this time it was for a movie I had been dying to see, Stephanie Meyer’s, The
Host starring Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons Diane Kruger, and William
Hurt.
I loved Stephanie Meyer's book The Host even more than the Twilight
series so when I heard that it was going to be a movie I had some concerns. But
I shouldn't have! This movie was amazing from beginning to end! And I cried
like a baby y’all know how I feel about stuff that makes me cry right?
Crying=AWESOME!!!!!
I was so impressed with how close to the book they got! I mean there
were things that got left out but they weren't even important enough to
register on my radar.
I loved Saoirse as Melanie/Wanda. When she was cast I wasn't entirely
convinced that she was right for the part but she did an amazing job! And how they used Melanie's memories as flashbacks was really cool! You could see Wanda feeling how Melanie felt! Oh and the love interests Ian and Jared? They were cast perfectly and the chemistry
between Wanda/Ian and Melanie/Jared was spot on! And holy hell Jake Abel? Be
still my heart he has a fan for life! And not because I was Team Ian in the
book, but because he was brill! And OMG William Hurt was the perfect Jeb and
Diane Kruger was as crazy as the Seeker was and I loved to hate her!
The set was breathtaking as well! The cave set was my favorite but
the alien upgrades to our planet were awesome and the way they transported the
aliens to and from earth was beautiful!
I highly suggest that everyone go and see The Host! I will definitely
be going again!
Oh and one more thing before I close. My mom who hates most sci-fi
movies LOVED this one!!!!
I can't WAIT to watch this!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they did a good job with this. I love the book and I always get nervous that they will ruin it with the movie.
ReplyDeleteI am quite excited for this movie. As much as I do like the Twilight books, this one is totally in a whole new league. There was so much more to the world that Stephenie had created, and always thought it would be a fantastic movie.
ReplyDeleteI should be seeing it this thurs. :D
Great review Jamie.
I can't wait to see all the Ian/Wanda moments.
I am so excited to go see this, I too loved this book. Glad to see the movie is awesome too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I'm glad to hear it was good. I'm not sure If I will be going to the premiere or not but I do have plans to see it at some point.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your positive review. I'm only finding negative ones....which might be good. I think it can't go wrong if I go in with low expectations. Can't wait to see what Niccol has done with it!

ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to this movie too. I did enjoy 'The Host', however, I know many people who gave up on it. I didn't! But I'll admit I read about four to five chapters and started over, saying to myself, "Oh...now I get it." And then I ended up reading it twice. Thank you for taking the time to review. I may have to sneak away during the week and watch. :)
