Yay welcome to day 1 of our Top 10 of 2014 event! We're so
happy that you all are participating with us! 2014 was an awesome year for me.
I've read 107 books as of today and will most likely hit my goal of 110 by the
31st! I love the Goodreads
Reading Challenge I sign up every year and the people at Goodreads have a
cool Your Year of Books when you sign up for the challenge. If you want to see
all the books I read this year go HERE!
So today’s topic is Best Books I've Read in 2014 (Doesn't have to be released in 2014, just a book you've read in 2014). And I had a hell of a time narrowing it down to just 10 so there are a few honorable mentions added to this list. If you want to know anything about the books I chose just click on the title and it’ll take you to the Goodreads page!
And make sure to stop by my co-hosts sites Reading YA Rocks (Fiktshun’s new site), Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads for
their lists! Oh and make sure to sign up with the linky to share your lists!
And don’t forget to enter the giveaway! Details are at the end of this post!
Monday,
December 24th - Best Books I've Read in 2014 (Doesn't have to be released in
2014, just a book you've read in 2014)
1. A THOUSAND
PIECES OF YOU by Claudia Gray. This was my favorite of the year
hands down!!!!! It was an amazing sci-fi story with the perfect amount of
mystery and romance.
2. WINTERSPELL by Claire
Legrand. A dark Nutcracker retelling with steampunk fae and a hot tormented
prince this one will definitely be a re-read for me!
3. DEFY and IGNITE by Sara B
Larson. Freaking fantastic books!!!!! This was the year of amazing high fantasy
and Sara started and ended it (since IGNITE comes out Dec 30th) with
a bang!
4. KISS OF
DECEPTION by Mary Pearson. Another seriously kick ass high fantasy! Mary’s
storytelling is amazing and she kept me guessing till the end about who was who!
Normally I can figure things out but nope I was totally surprised with the
outcome There’s also 2 hot boys to choose from!
5. SNOW LIKE
ASHES by Sara Raasch. High fantasy #3 on my list this year! It was
awesome, amazeballs, mind-blowing!!!! Loved Theron and I can’t wait for book 2!
6. HEIR OF
FIRE
by Sarah J. Maas. Ok seriously I have no idea what it is about chicks named
Sara/Sarah but they’re rocking the high fantasy this year! HEIR was absolutely
amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.
7. SILVER
SHADOWS by Richelle Mead. Adrian fricking Ivashkov!!! Need I say
more?? This book tortured me sooooo bad and then the ending was perfect and a
cliffhanger ugh!
8. IGNITE ME by Tahereh
Mafi. Haters gonna hate on this one because of who Juliet ends up with but
seeing as I was Team Warner this book made me happy dance like crazy!!!!
9. ALIENATED by Melissa
Landers. I love me a good alien story
and this beats JLA’s Lux series IMO and I can’t wait for book 2!
10. MORTAL HEART by Robin LaFevers. It’s historical fantasy at
its best and a beautiful conclusion to the series! Although I have heard that
Robin may revisit this world to which I say please do!!!!
Honorable
Mentions
LANDRY
PARK
by Bethany Hagen.
THE
FOREVER SONG by Julie Kagawa.
THE
PERILOUS SEA by Sherry Thomas.

I have a top three of 2014: The Kiss of Deception (I was totally surprised at who was who!), Bully, and Ten Tiny Breaths. :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Heir. That book was epic. And I loved Ignite Me too! I thought it was a great conclusion. My favorite for the year ended up being Hard Knox by Nicole Williams.
ReplyDeleteI love so many books in your top 10. I had such a hard time narrowing mine down. If i won that fantasy prize pack I think I would keel over and die from excitement! I cant wait FOR ALL THOSE espec Sin Eaters Daughter!! You awesome as usual.
ReplyDelete~ Britt @ please feed the bookworm
This was a difficult list and there are ones that i still debate on but yes, I am surprised that we only have one novel in common on this list
ReplyDeleteGosh, I love IGNITE ME and of course Warner! I'll never forget that awesome twist in the love triangle that brought me one of my beloved OTPs of 2014! I really enjoyed ATPOY by Claudia Gray and while I wasn't completely blown away with it, I am still looking forward very eagerly to reading Book 2. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my list of the Best Books I've Read in 2014
Ignite Me, Silver Shadows, and The Forever Song all made my list. Invaded was a very very close call! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteMy Best of 2014
Snow like Ashes and Thousand Pieces of you were a tie
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those books on your list which is a shocker as these all sound like my kind of books.
ReplyDeleteDefy was an awesome read! Can't wait to get my hands on Ignite. I'm also looking forward to read The Forever Song. ;) My list didn't match any of yours but I came quite close with Throne of Glass (I know, took me waaaay too long to read it.) :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm one of the only ones in the minority about A Thousand Pieces of You. I didn't care for it. I really wonder what I'm missing though lol!
ReplyDeleteYour list is fantastic. Kiss of Deception is on mine (as well as it's sequel) - it's probably my top book of 2014, honestly. So bloody brilliant. I really enjoyed Defy & Ignite. Heir of Fire, I'm obsessed with SJM so of course I loved it. I haven't finished Mortal Heart. Not because it's bad but because I don't want this series over. I really love it too much. Also SNOW LIKE ASHES. How did I forget that one?!
I didn't read anything from your list..! Many of the books there are on my tbr list, though..I think my favorite book from 2014 was The Girl With All the Gifts.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the process of reading Winterspell! Haven't had a lot of time lately so can't wait to delve into it more! There are a few books on your list on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose just one favorite, but I think I'll have to choose Blood of Olympus because it was a great ending to an awesome series.
Great list of books! I mean I haven't even started most of the series, but I've heard great things about them, and most are on my TBR, so I'm glad you loved them, too :)
ReplyDeleteBest Books I’ve Read in 2014
So many great books on your list. A Thousand Pieces of You is on my TBR for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many on your list that I still need to get to. I loved Landry Park and The Forever Song though.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick one....Cress was definitely up there!
ReplyDeleteSo many good books on your list! I really need to finish up the Cahill Witch series...I've only read the first book. I think my favorite book this year would have to be The Kiss of Deception. Such a great read!
ReplyDeleteOoh I really need to read Snow Like Ashes, Silver Shadows and The Forever Song.
ReplyDeleteBurn for Me by Ilona Andrews :) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHmm...Hard one! I would have to say, STOLEN SONGBIRD by Danielle L. Jensen!!!! I absolutely LOVED IT! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteRafflecopter name: Vannah B.
My fav so far (still reading!!) is Evil Librarian.
ReplyDeleteI feel better about your list, I've read 3 of them. On Reading YA Rocks I'd only read one of her honorable mentions lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
My favorites were The One by Kiera Cass and Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love either, but Prize Pack 1 would be my preference (I have one of the arcs in the other pack). Thanks :)
DeleteMy favorites (I can't pick just one ;) would be On The Fence, The Book of Ivy, Stone Cold Touch, and Maybe Someday.
ReplyDeleteI don't like choosing favorites, and I also read a lot of good books this year. I'll have to say Cress by Marrisa Meyer, though.
ReplyDeleteI can't pick just one favorite. There were so many amazing books that I got to read this year. And I couldn't even keep my list to just 10 either. I didn't read many of the books that made your list, but a good majority of them are ones that I really want to read. Like Heir of Fire. I read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight this year...and I was hoping to get Heir of Fire read before December ends...not sure that I will make it though.
ReplyDeleteSnow Like Ashes is definitely one of my favorites from this year. I could not put that one down. And I am already dying for #2!
Great list!
And thank you so much for the amazing giveaway. I would die if I won either of those prize packs...(especially the fantasy one, I can't wait to read all of those!)
It's hard to choose one book that was my favorite in 2014, but I did LOVE Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead (which also made it to my list). :) And all the books on your list...OMG! I just wish I could have read them all! I think I only own two of them though, so that's pretty bad. Hopefully 2015 is a better year for me in books! :D
ReplyDeleteMortal Heart by Robin LaFevers was one of my favorites too, also really enjoyed the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Brigs.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, thank you so much for hosting this amazing event. Seriously, I've totally anticipated this one all year and definitely set aside some time so that I could be part of it. I just have a few more posts to get ready and then I'll have them all scheduled and ready to go.
ReplyDeleteTHIS LIST. SO MUCH FEELS! <3
Heir of Fire, Snow Like Ashes, Mortal Heart, Ignite Me (seriously, CHAPTER 55!!!!). Oh my goodness, these are all books that need to be adorning my bookshelves when my pocket book isn't crying out from all the holiday spending. lol.
I loved Snow Like Ashes especially that twist. I didn't love Heir of Fire, though…it was okay. The book was more of training training and more training. The Kiss of Deception is still on my TBR but I'll start reading it soon since it's one of everyone's favourites. HAHA Thank you for sharing! <3
