Hey everyone! I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the blog tour for SUCCUBUS LIPS by Lina Jubillee!
I have an interview with Lina to share with you today! And make sure to enter the giveaway below!
Haven't heard of SUCCUBUS LIPS? Check it out!
Her lips have the power to boost. Her love can grant power unparalleled. In an ongoing conflict against ravishingly beautiful beings from another dimension, Aurora Haddix’s abilities allow her to turn the tide of the battle.
Born a Natch, one of the population naturally endowed with superhuman powers at birth, Aurora tries to make the right choice. Her handsome, overprotective best friend and her tortured, grizzled mentor want her to use her powers for good. Kiss a Natch and they become more powerful for a few minutes. Allow one inside her and their powers are intensified for a full day. She wants to help, but she can’t get their roguish, virile former comrade out of her mind—and he wants her to join his underground band of Renegades. Then there’s the dark elf king, the leader of the otherworldly Nelians determined to infiltrate Earth—Aurora’s number one target and the most devastatingly gorgeous man she’s ever seen.
Aurora’s body makes her the most sought-after Natch in a war that might end on her say-so. Only with the way her inner passion ignites at each touch, she’s not so sure of her true reasons for pursuing the four alluring men who seek to possess her.
Now on to the interview!
Hey Lina! First I want to say welcome to Two Chicks on Books I’m glad
you could stop by for a chat! SUCCUBUS LIPS was AWESOME and I can’t wait for
everyone to read it!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
For the readers:
can you tell us a little bit about the SUCCUBUS LIPS and the characters?
SUCCUBUS LIPS takes place in a world where about twenty percent of the
population is born with superpowers. Aurora Haddix, the heroine, is on Team
Veras, a team of Natches (the word for superpowered people) who step up where
the local law enforcement can’t or won’t and stop other Natches from breaking
the law. To make matters worse, Team Veras’ leader, Jayden, was once best
friends with Zander, the leader of the Renegades, a team of Natches who break
laws all the time for the greater good of Natchkind, so they say. Meanwhile,
otherworldly invaders—astonishingly beautiful elves—have started
traveling through portals to attack Earth with giant plant vines. Veras and the
Renegades enact truces to team up to fight these otherworldly invaders and
figure out exactly what’s going on.
Aurora’s powers could make the faint of heart blush. A kiss from her
boosts another Natch’s powers for a few minutes, but having intercourse with
her boosts another Natch’s power much more and for a full day. She regularly
boosts Nash, a super hot flame user on Team Veras, and throughout the course of
the story comes to terms with the fact that she has steamy romantic tension
going on with Jayden, Zander, and the
elven king. Everyone wants her boost, of course, but these four men are simply
in love with her, too.
How many books do
you have planned for the series?
I’m pretty sure it’ll be three books long, though each should work as a
standalone as well. The next book, SUCCUBUS HEART, will star a character named
Alanna who appears throughout SUCCUBUS LIPS. The third one is currently
untitled, and I can’t reveal its main character because it’s a major spoiler
for Book One. But that person kind of appears briefly in Book One.
Were any of the
characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?
I hope not. *laughs* They’re inspired by my favorite fictional
archetypes, particularly strong-willed heroines who argue back with Byronic heroes
and anti-heroes/villains with a soft side.
Who was your
favorite character to write? What about your least favorite?
My favorite is a toss-up between Alarik and Zander just because I do
love golden-hearted villains so much, though I also love quiet, studious,
tortured guys, so Jayden is a close third. I really loved all of my characters,
from the main ones to the secondary. I guess if I had to pick a least favorite,
I’d say the final antagonist they’re all up against (spoiler, so no name) just
because I barely had enough opportunity to develop him into a satisfyingly
three-dimensional character. I saved some of that for Book Two.
What is your
favorite passage/scene in SUCCUBUS LIPS?
I had so much fun with so many amazing scenes, but I especially loved
the final scene with Jayden and Aurora (the final scene where they’re alone,
that is) because they get a lot off their chests and payoff a lot of the
tension between them.
What kind of
research did you have to do for the story?
None, really. All this crazy stuff came from inside my head, probably a
mush of all the fiction I’ve loved so much over the years.
Who is your
ultimate book boyfriend?
Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre,
even though (or because?) he can be a jerk.
What inspired you
to write a Reverse Harem series?
They’re so much fun to read, so I thought they’d be fun to write, too,
and I was right! I flew through the first draft of this one. I’ve always crushed
on so many fictional characters, I’m really in the “why choose?” mindset at
heart.
Lightening Round
Questions
What are you
reading right now? Or what do you have on your TBR that you’re dying to read?
I need to read The Royal Spell by
K.N. Lee. That looks like a fun fantasy harem story, and I love the cover! I’m
just really behind with my TBR list.
What Hogwarts
House would the Sorting Hat place you in?
Either Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Let’s go with Slytherin, even though I
swear I’m not anti-Muggle!
