Club Rule #4 — Masks are mandatory but clothing
is optional.
Dame Victoria
Whittingstall, appointed by The Queen to serve in the Royal Courts, thought
she'd achieved all her dreams.
But there’s always been
something missing when it came to sex. On the heels of a break up with Boring
Baron, her long time boyfriend, her best friend treats her to a one night pass
to London’s most exclusive sex club.
Posh.
Dark.
Sensual.
And completely alive...
Club Exotica is straight out of her most forbidden, secret fantasies.
When a handsome stranger
finally gives Tori the mind-blowing sex she's yearned for, she knows one taste
will never be enough.
It almost makes her forget
about the sexy young barrister that flirts with her at court.
But in Club Exotica,
betrayal is around every dark corner and lasting love is elusive.
Interview:
Hey Kate!! First I want to say welcome to Two Chicks on Books I’m glad
you could stop by for a chat! SEDUCED sounds AWESOME and I can’t wait for
everyone to read it!
What are you
working on now?
Right now, I’m working on edits for Trapped,
the next book in my London Sex Club novels. I’m excited because even though Seduced
is just coming out, reviewers are saying they want to see more of the club’s
owners, Michael and Sebastian. As luck would have it, their love triangle is
the focus of the next book!
Were any of the
characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?
Not in this book. My very first erotic
romance short story, My Doctor, My Husband, and Me (one of three in my Playing Doctor
anthology from Sourcebooks) is a ménage inspired by one uber hunky surgeon who
shall remain nameless. I wrote it while hyped up on pain meds, lol.
However, one character in Seduced is
named after a real person I used to know years ago — Michael Fletcher. I fell in
love with that name and asked if he would mind if I used it in a story. While
completely different from the real person, the name alone inspired the
character of Fletcher, one of the two brothers who own Club Exotica. He’s
English, secretive, mysterious, with a dark history that made him the way he
is.
Who was your
favorite character to write?
Michael Fletcher. He’s uber hot and
domineering. Complex. And he needs to learn that there’s more to a relationship
than sex. He needs a woman who’ll show him that love is real.
What is your
favorite passages/scenes in SEDUCED?
One is a spoiler, so I can’t say. But,
hopefully, it should come as a totally unexpected turn when it happens. Another
one, is also a bit of a spoiler, but I can say that it’s extremely naughty and
it takes place in Tori’s high court chamber in the Gothic, stone building of
the Royal Courts of Justice. Lastly, I love the sex scene in the “Sex-pilogue” — Tori and Ian are a couple
now, having come to terms with their unique sexualities, and they can enjoy the
experience with their entire being.
What kind of
research did you have to do for the story?
Extensive research!!! Besides my continuing
online and hands-on BDSM research (my DH doesn’t mind overly much helping with
the latter), I also needed to research British slang, architecture, posh sex
clubs, and more. There’s so much. For instance a woman’s vajaja is called a
“fanny” over there. Well that just won’t do for American readers. Conversely,
an English author friend pointed out that my use of the word “spunky” would
garner snickers from British readers. “Spunk” means cum over there, rather than
courageous, and I’d used it 5 times — you heard me 5 times!! — in the manuscript. I turned my research into real-life, posh, sex clubs
into an article for Romance Daily News which you can read at KateAllure.com. And, I
even made blue prints of Club Exotica which I’ve posted to my Pinterest.
Who is your
ultimate book boyfriend?
Edward from Twilight. He is devoted to Bella
and she helps him grow too.
What inspired you
to write romance?
I have a nonfiction writing background, first
working for ballet companies in development, then for a local paper. And, I’ve
written plays and stories my whole life for fun. I was in the process of writing
a “book proposal” for a book on helping high functioning autistic people speak
and write more naturally (I have two sons with this disability, and I’ve
tutored them for years). But it turned out to be too close to home, to personal
and emotional. Then, as I mention above, while home recuperating from foot
surgery, procrastinating on the book proposal, and on pain meds, I wrote a
naughty story. It was blast to write and it sold within two weeks of pitching
it. So, Kate Allure the purveyor of naughty romance was launched. The review
for that first book captured my focus so well: “Kate Allure deals in pure
fantasy, a spirited diversion from the mundane and a chance to explore some of
the most titillating “what ifs” readers can imagine.” —Romantic Times Book Reviews
