Hey Nicola!
First I want to say welcome to Two Chicks on Books I’m glad you could stop by
for a chat! SCANDALOUS PASSIONS sounds AWESOME and I can’t wait for everyone to
read it!
For the readers: can you tell us a
little bit about the SCANDALOUS PASSIONS and the characters?
Scandalous
Passions is set in late medieval Scotland (1504) in the court of King James IV.
Lady Janet Fraser (nicknamed the worst sinner in Scotland) is his former
mistress, but now the king has married an English princess, Janet has to leave
Stirling Castle. She is granted land at St. Andrews, and will be joined there
by her new ward Lady Marjorie Hepburn, a convent-raised virgin, and the king’s
champion Sir Lachlan Ross (the Highland Beast) as a bodyguard. Forbidden lust
sparks between all three; Marjorie is desperate to learn about pleasure before
she is sent away to be married; and Lachlan is a secret submissive who yearns
to be tamed. Renowned rulebreaker Janet is quite happy to see to both.
What are you working on now?
In the
planning stages for a few projects releasing late in the year.
Were any of the characters in the
book inspired by people from your real life?
No
Who was your favorite character to
write? What about your least favorite?
Probably
Janet. I enjoy writing outspoken, sexually confident fem dommes. I don’t really
have a least favorite, all are fun in their own way, even the dastardly
villains.
What is your favorite passages/scenes
in SCANDALOUS PASSIONS?
I really
enjoy writing sex scenes, so all of those. Outside of that, one where Janet,
Marjorie, and Lachlan have a picnic beside a stream and tell bawdy tales and
confess secrets. It’s both lighthearted and emotional.
What kind of research did you have to
do for the story?
I did two
months of research before I started writing and had a massive pile of
textbooks, articles, old maps and drawings. All are cited in the bibliography,
and look at King James and Queen Margaret, Stirling Castle, ancient Scottish
marriage laws, St. Andrews, period fashion, travel, and food.
Who is your ultimate book boyfriend?
I have a
real soft spot for Constantine Breckenridge (Breck) a golden eagle shifter in
Crystal Jordan’s erotic dystopian Reclaiming Temptation.
What inspired you to write romance?
I always
loved to read it, but never quite found the combination of historical detail,
emotion, and explicit sex/kink positive content that I wanted. So I started
writing it myself.
