Sapphira Dawn was told she was the new Goddess
Incarnate, the most powerful being on Earth.
At nineteen, she didn’t feel powerful – she
felt betrayed and angry.
Suddenly thrust into a world that she knows
nothing about, a world where magic and monsters actually exist, Sapphira races
to learn all she can about her magic.
And to find her place in this dangerous new
world.
Some of the monsters want to use her, the
others just want her dead.
But can she gain the knowledge needed to stop
an impending war before it spills into the human realm she once called home.
"Sapphira has got to be one the best MC's
I have come across of late!... I cannot wait to see where the rest of this
story heads!" - Jade Francis, Author of Siren Calls
"If you're wanting to dive into an excellent example of the fantasy world,
where the cruel Gods use their power over the world and its inhabitants to
their advantage this book is for you. I turned the last page and the word that
came to mind was...Excellent. I am looking forwarding to reading the next
book in the series. I highly recommend you grab a copy for yourself."
- Stephanie B. Whitfield, Author of Hidden in Roll
Interview:
Hey B.L.! First I want to say welcome to Two Chicks on Books
I’m glad you could stop by for a chat! AWAKEN sounds AWESOME and I can’t wait
for everyone to read it!
Hi! Glad to be here,
thanks for having me!
For the readers: can
you tell us a little bit about the AWAKEN and the characters?
The main character in Awaken
is Sapphira.
She’s a nineteen year old
Australian woman who is thrown into a world she knew nothing about – magic,
monsters, gods, and mayhem. She’s told that she is the Goddess Incarnate – a
god of reincarnation, but doesn’t believe it. I mean, who would? And on top of
all that, she’s supposed to tip the balance in an eons-old game between some
pretty nasty creatures!
Sapphira isn’t your typical hero,
though. She isn’t instantly good at anything, she can’t fight and is totally
trusting of everyone around her. You get to see her struggle and grow while she
processes everything – and tries to stay alive.
There are a few
important support characters – all so different from Saph (and not only
personality wise… think different species/paranormal types!)
What are you working
on now?
I’m currently
finishing up book 2 in this series – as well as working on a few other
projects!
Were any of the
characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?
Very loosely, if at
all. I don’t like to base characters off real people that I know – my anxiety
goes into overdrive thinking that the person will be offended!
Who was your favorite
character to write? What about your least favorite?
My favorite would
probably be Sapphira – but only because I’ve spent the most time with her! Hunter
and Valdis would be close seconds though, I enjoy the sass that spills out from
them, and the way they treat Saph is so different from everyone else.
Least favorite would
be Sapphira too – especially when she doesn’t stick to the outline I’ve written
out! Close second here would have to be Darragh. If you’ve read the book, I’m
sure you know why!
What is your favorite
passages/scenes in AWAKEN?
Hmm… tough one!
You know, I think it
would be the scene just after Saph uses her magic on Raine for the first time…
I think it really showed a different side to her that we hadn’t really seen up
to that point. I don’t want to give too much away, but that scene is a real
turning point for a lot of the plot.
What kind of research
did you have to do for the story?
I had to research a
few of the places mentioned in the book – as I’ve never left Australia. Also, I
researched the cultures of a few characters, learning the myths and legends
based around monsters from them, food too was a fun one to look into! Character
names is always a fun one to research too – I tend to name my characters around personality
traits, or as clues to what’s coming!
Who is your ultimate
book boyfriend/girlfriend?
I’m the kind of
reader that finds a great love in just about every book I read (Don’t tell my
husband, but I have a ton of book boyfriends and girlfriends!)
What inspired you to
write romance?
Awaken isn’t a
romance, it’s fantasy! And there aren’t actually many romantic elements in this
book – none that takes center stage for the MC anyway. There is in the second
one though! So keep an eye out for that one!
Lightning Round Questions
What are you reading right now? Or what do you have on your TBR that
