A BRAVE NEW WORLD – AN ULTRA VIOLENT NEW WORLD ORDER
Brought up in the violent gangland life since birth brothers Mat and Nic take
the reins from their father as his successor and become the gangland bosses of
East London.
Mat gets involved in the illegal drug trade after laundering millions of dirty
money from Brinks Mat. He becomes Pablo Escobar’s main European cocaine
distributor propelling the Hunter gang into the stratosphere of an untouchable
crime syndicate.
But all of this comes at the ultimate price. In a world filled with serial
killers, Yardies and Ultra-Violent radical feminists, who can you trust?
Set against the backdrop of East London in the 1980s with systemic police
corruption, racism and poverty, juxtaposed with beautiful women, decadence and
the Docklands Development. Blood Betrayal is a gritty and
darkly humorous story and the first in a duology.
Interview:
For the readers: can
you tell us a little bit about your book and the characters?
What are you working
on now? Blood Betrayal ends on a big cliffhanger so
I am now working on Blood Retribution the next book.
Were any of the
characters in the book inspired by people from your real life?
Some are based on real people and some are purely
fictional
Who was your favorite
character to write? What about your least favorite?
Nic Hunter was my favourite he is so flawed so toxically
male he makes Andrew Tate look like a choir boy but he is funny and you can’t
help being magnetically drawn to him like Alex in Burgesses’ A Clockwork Orange.
What is your favorite
passage/scene in your book?
Nic confronted with Tony Blair knocking at his door
campaigning for the Labour party (Blair did live in Hackney in the 1980’s)
What kind of research
did you have to do for the story? I am from Dalson
Hackney and was once, many moons ago, heavily involved in the gangland life so
little research was needed for that. What I did research was Voodoo and Hoodoo
as my character Rattlesnake who is a Yardie and crack addict/dealer is a
disciple of this. I researched 1970’s and 1980’s women’s fashions, shoes,
jewelry etc. – I wanted to get the detail just right. Two of my characters
Greta and Nigel are total geeks so I looked heavily into Dungeons and Dragons,
computer games and Star Trek. I also researched the true gruesome history of
the “death flat” in Curzon Place Mayfair London. Even though I am now an active
practicing Christian I did need to do some biblical research.
